Autumn Adventure (Craft & Home Show) with
Third Annual Ultimate Trivia Challenge
Saturday, September 29, 2007.

Literacy Volunteers of Essex/Franklin Counties held the Third Annual Ultimate Trivia Challenge. This event took place on September 29, 2007 at North Country Community College in Malone, as part of Autumn Adventure.

From left to right, Board members Karen McGee, Carol Leary, Marge Miller and Executive Driector Chuck Gibson were on hand at our Malone office last October when Bill Boyea from ALCOA's Massena plant presented or organization with a check for $1,500. The generous donation will be used to purchase books and other materials required by our adult students.




First Annual Tri-Lakes Scrabble Crosword Tournament:


Four winners bask in the glow of winning the Scrabble Tournament held January 27th in Lake Placid, sponsored by Literacy Volunteers of Essex/Franklin Counties. From left to right are Erin Cunningham of Elizabethtown, fourth place, Marla Hyman of Saranac Lake, first place, Frank Hill of Westport, third place, and Wendy Hall of Wilmington, second place. Prizes were donated by Jimmy's 21 Restaurant of Lake Placid, Turtle Island Restaurant of Willsboro, the Deer's Head Inn of Elizabethtown, and the Bookstore Plus of Lake Placid. Two area businesses, Price Chopper of Lake Placid and Merrick's Bakery of Wadhams, donated sandwich supplies for a delicious luncheon. Also thank you to Ben and Jerry's of Lake Placid. Butch Martin and the North Elba Park District donated the use of their beautiful Beach House. Thanks to everyone who made this event a big success with over forty word-lovers playing Scrabble on a snowy day.
